In loving memory of our fallen friend and
patriot Edward Carl Holzapfel (aka Drauka).
On July 20, 2009, at an Austin Hospital, our long time friend passed away.
He was born March 4, 1968 , in Smithtown, N.Y., to Edward Frederick and Florence
Holzapfel. Services for Edward will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
As a United States soldier, Edward attained the rank of staff
sergeant. He served in many overseas theatres including Germany, Turkey and
Croatia. Edward loved football, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed
spending time with family and friends. His other interests of course included
gaming with his friends in Doom Brigade; model cars, a gun enthusiast and
aspiring hunter, as well as a bee-keeper.
Ed joined our Doom Brigade guild family in late 2006 and was a
absolute joy to chat with. He was always courteous to new folks and loved to
joke around with us old timers. We will all miss Ed more than words can say. It
is truly a sad time for everyone, we are just pleased to have had our time with
Ed before his passing. Ed had a very bad heart condition and was in all our
prayers for many many months. But it appears God felt it necessary to relieve
his suffering and bring him to a much better place. He was very proud of his
military career and spoke of it often. I am sure he is watching over us now with
a smile on his face. If you read this Ed, WE LOVE YOU MAN!
